Renewed Parisian Classic
With the new year bringing in change I wanted to shift The Market series to feature properties that aren't just architecturally significant, but also exhibit my personal taste decoratively and artistically. To find spaces that match my style I had to choose locations exude classic and cool. Many places came to mind but one stood out the most: Paris.
Paris, as a city, crafted my personal style from the first time I visited. This particular apartment shows my Francophile preferences and love for intersecting styles. Located in the fashionable 8th Arrondissement, the apartment combines classic Hausmann era embellishment with contemporary, deco-esque furnishings.
The glossy nature of the decor could be a bit jarring in a newly constructed space, but here it beautifully compliments the plaster moulding and herringbone pattern floors that epitomize Parisian interiors. Traditional and Transitional mingle perfectly to bring Nineteenth Century Paris into the Millennial era with a frosty color palette.
The newly added finishes help to boost the property's value and update the French "look." Lighting fixtures by Jonathan Adler introduce a bit of Midcentury sensibility that bridges the gap between the contemporary additions and the extant architectural details. Stylistically this apartment checks many of the boxes on an American designer's list without sterilizing the French aesthetic.
