New Year

New Year

Many keep saying that 2016 was the worst year ever, but personally it was one of my best in a long time. At the end of 2015, I left a job that was driving me absolutely insane. The Entertainment industry had chewed me up and spit me out in under a year and I am happy that it happened.

Nothing teaches you what you really want in life than complete and utter failure. Luckily for me the New Year was coming and it would provide me with a spotlessly clean start. My year kicked off with two new part-time jobs that allowed me to realize what I wanted to pursue in life. A few months later I decided to launch a website and here we are.

Writing about architecture, design, and art has allowed me to push myself creatively. When I began this journey I was nervous that I would run out of ideas. Surprisingly, that has has not happened yet. I discovered that when you focus on something you love, it is nearly impossible for you to fall behind. My weekly post has become a therapeutic ritual rather than a chore and allows me to feature my (sometimes) well curated opinion.

My track record with New Years resolutions is abysmal. My attempts at eating better and drinking less Diet Coke were futile and generally boring. This year, I wanted to challenge myself to generate more aggressive and interesting content featuring creatives who I have a personal connection to. To kick this off I want to feature my friend Madison FitzPatrick. Her digital reinterpretation of the "selfie portrait" fits perfectly into the millennial pop culture landscape of 2017. Give her work a once over and hit her up for a commission if you like what you see. Nothing starts a new year better than a rad image to hang on a wall or post on social media.

As this year begins I will try my best to keep rolling out new content as much as possible! Here's to challenging yourself and working endlessly for what you want in life.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.
